State: Florida
Sharon FitzGerald, M.A., ATR, is a Registered Art Therapist (ATR) in private practice in Miami, FL. After graduating in 1989 from The George Washington University with a Master’s degree in Art Therapy, she practiced Art Therapy in Washington DC for over 10 years in a variety of psychiatric and mental health settings. From 2012-12014, Sharon received training in Sandplay Therapy©, which is based on the work of renowned psychiatrist Carl G. Jung. Sharon has been in private practice in Miami for 5+ y and is bilingual in both Spanish and English.
Sharon’s life path has taken her in a variety of interesting directions: between undergrad and grad school, she lived in Europe for 10 years, 8 of them in Spain (she still misses the Spanish way of life!). She has worked in the travel, tourism and hospitality industries, as well as being in jazz public radio for 5 years, hosting her own on-air program on Latin jazz – so she understands the need for creativity and flexibility in today’s world.
In fact, one of Sharon’s core beliefs is that creativity is the wellspring of life: creative problem-solving, self-expression, dreamscapes, personal mythology, the use of the imagination – all foster a sense of vitality necessary to embrace and enjoy a meaningful life. Finding time for creative self-expression can be difficult in today’s challenging modern world, where we all at times feel overwhelmed with the minutia of daily living, over-scheduled with tasks, to-do lists, and getting from appointment to appointment.
One of Sharon’s core beliefs as an Art Therapist is that creativity is the wellspring. She welcomes all inquiries about Art Therapy, Sandplay Therapy or Video Coaching.
