I obtained my Bachelor’s in Psychology in 2015. In 2017, I completed my Master’s in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling.
I am an experienced mental health therapist. But most importantly, I understand what it is like. I have come through my own addictions and mental illnesses and know what it’s like to feel hopeless for things to change.
Over 13 years ago, I began the journey of recovery. After a traumatic and life-altering car accident I made the decision to leave my drug dealer (and much older) boyfriend whom I was terrified was going to kill me for leaving, and I was attempting to leave the sex industry. One day, I was lying on the floor after returning home from a therapy session that I felt barely made a difference. After receiving an eviction letter for my townhouse, riddled with chronic pain from the car accident, withdrawing from heroin and crack, feeling as though there was no one who understood me and no therapist who could possibly know how to help me. All I could think about was ending my life. It was at that same moment, I decided I would become a therapist myself to help others through the journey that I felt was nearly impossible.
Did that decision magically change my life and get rid of my suicidality? Absolutely not. It took many years of study and hard work for me to work through my issues and forge a way through to discovering a way for myself and others. But it was my dream of helping others that kept me alive and got me to where I am today— a happy and successful woman who now helps others through their own heroic journey, whatever that may look like for them.
