SEX TRAFFICKING: A FORGOTTEN EPIDEMIC
Sex trafficking is widely misunderstood as a thing of the past, or something that only happens in movies or big cities. However, sex trafficking occurs in all communities at a high rate and is perpetrated by many individuals most would not suspect. The grooming, trafficking, and abuse can occur in many different ways. Sex trafficking survivors endure a specific type of trauma that may bond them to those that hurt them, making this a population challenging to reach. In this presentation we will learn how to identify warning signs, use harm reduction, and compassionate care to be an advocate for the needs of survivors.
