I utilize evidence-based practices of Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) including trauma focused (TF-CBT), mindfulness, and Mindful Self-Compassion. I have over 13 years of experience working in the mental health field, trained in mindfulness and can incorporate into sessions as applicable- you can also view my mindfulness tracks on Insight Timer here. I am working towards my Certified Sex Therapist (CST) certification including training, supervision and clinical hours in order to support individuals to communicate about pleasure and desire, increase self-acceptance, reduce anxiety around sex, and incorporate mindfulness and fun in their sex lives.
I use a warm and open approach in which you and I collaborate on your goals for therapy. I use humor, gentle honesty and transparency to support our work together and encourage you to respond in kind. Treatment is driven by your values (which may include connectedness, honesty, fun, kindness, and/or achievement among others). We look at the role emotions and thoughts have on your life including whether your current methods are “working for you” and empower you to make choices that align with your values. If it is of interest to you, we may incorporate various aspects of mindfulness practice.
I have experience treating anxiety, trauma, transition and life changes, depression, body image, identity growth including LGBTQI+ affirming (this is also a community in which I self-identify). I am certified in a variety of interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis, Inner Resources for Stress (mindfulness course), and vast experience in ACT including completing an advanced 2-day intensive course with Steven Hayes, co-creator of ACT. Being a member of professional organizations such as Association of Contextual Behavioral Sciences (ACBS) and California Association of Marriage Family Therapists (CAMFT) supports in ongoing training and consultation in this field.
